Europe in the Future - Multifaceted and Unified

During the period of 11-13 October 2021 in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, was carried out the fourth international meeting of the project “European future is our future”. It aims to enhance the participation in the democracy process in partial youth, to motivate person to be Active European, exchange practices for increase European spirit. The event contributed to reach the needs of the young people of debating about important European issues, to be active and participate in the democracy process. In the frame of the event was carried out: a research “What`s mean to be active European”, seminar “How to be Active European” with participation of many youth organisations and NGO-s, conference “How to motivate people to be active European” for exchange practices to increase European spirit, was estimated the works of the contest “I`m European”, selected the winners, updated Programe of the NT “Open towns”. In the event took part 76 participants, 18 of them invited, representatives of local authorities, decision makers, young people, citizens from the project partner`s countries: Municipality of Aksakovo (Bulgaria) with 5 participants leaded by the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality – Ruska Ilieva; Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira (Portugal) with 3 participants; Municipality of Osilo (Italy) with 5 participants lead by the Mayor Giovanni Ligios ; Municipality of Dalgopol (Bulgaria )with 5 participants leaded by Mayor of the municipality- Georgi Georgiev.

On the first day 11 October 2021 the meeting was opened by Mr. Simon Rosic, Deputy Mayor of Nova Gorica and Mayor of Dalgopol /beneficiary of the project/ – Georgi Georgiev, Giovanni Ligios – Mayor of Osilo, Ruska Ilieva – Deputy Mayor of Aksakovo Municipality, Manuella Ferreira – Coordinator from Vila Nova de Cerveira.

The Seminar “How to be active European”- part 1 open with representatives of 7 youth Slovenian organizations:

On the question What does an active citizen do? More than 80 % replied to gives suggestions/ideas for local authority.

The project manager Neli Petrova explained about Programme of the Network of towns “Open towns” and each project`s partner give suggestions for the future collaboration activities. All suggestions could be found here

Afternoon the programme gone on with debate What`s meant to be active European. The students from Nova Gorica Gymnasium argued in two rounds and explained their point of view in the main topics of European agenda. The second day 12 October 2021 in accordance of the programme started with Conference “How to motivate people to be active European”-exchange practices for increase European spirit.

Each partner present projects and good practices regarding youth participation on the local level.

Afternoon the representatives of the project`s partners estimated the works of participants of the contest “I`m European” in the categories Writing; Drawing; Photo. In the contest took part more than 85 participants. In the final international round took part 38 participants. The drawing presentation could be found here

On the third day 13 October 2021 participants visited city of Nova Gorica and Goricia. They have opportunity to gain knowledge of the history and culture of the border region.
